These services allow us&nbsp;to connect with people across the world, family we can\u2019t see very easily, news consumption, and many other things. Over the years social media consumption has&nbsp;skyrocketed. For instance, according to Pew Research, as of 2021 72% of the American public use some type of social media and people between 18-29 that increases&nbsp;to 84% of that age group. As we can see, social media is become an integral part of the American way of life. Giving away too much information such as \u2018daily 6am workout\u2019 tells stalkers or thieves where you are and that you\u2019re&nbsp;not at home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid sharing photos while you\u2019re on vacation on social media. This alerts everyone that you\u2019re away from home. It\u2019s best to collect photos on the trip and&nbsp;post them in a \u2018photo dump\u2019 when you get back home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid sharing sensitive information about yourself online with things such as your driver\u2019s license. For example, posting your driver\u2019s license online (whileexciting for first time drivers) can be used immediately for identity theft and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Only accepts \u2018friend\u2019 or \u2018connection\u2019 requests from people you know. People hide behind fake accounts and those might be used to defraud you, organizescams, or run catfishing schemes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If possible, avoid sharing sensitive information such as your actual birthdate.
