D2neXt Salutes: Destiny Wimpye<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Black Girl Magic! Katherine Dunham. Pearl Primus. Janet Collins. Misty Copeland. These are a few icons in the Arts for Black Women in Ballet. The neXt generation has come center stage and to add to this list – insert Destiny Wimpye<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we celebrate Black History Month, D2neXt would like to take this opportunity to recognize those individuals who work to make a difference in various fields, including small business owners, local politicians, medical professionals, and entertainment figures. This month, we are saluting everyday history-makers and their efforts to make a positive impact on the communities they support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Destiny Wimpye, a dancer, actress and model from Atlanta, Ga. In 2013 Destiny relocated to LA to train at The Debbie Allen Dance Academy<\/strong>. Since her relocation she has performed with Mariah Carey<\/strong>, Jill Scott<\/strong>, Debbie Allen<\/strong> and at the White <\/strong>House for The Obama Administration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destiny can be found in commercials for ABC Mouse<\/strong>, Macy’s<\/strong> and Toyota<\/strong>. Her acting skills have landed her on tv shows such as “Raven’s Home<\/strong>“, “Speechless<\/strong>“, “The Odd Couple<\/strong>“, a principal role in the hit television show “This is Us<\/strong>” and Tyler Perry’s A Jazzman’s Blues”<\/strong> on Netflix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Destiny’s main focus is ballet, she can be seen modeling for companies like Discount Dance<\/strong>, All About Dance<\/strong> and Mariaa Dance Wear. <\/strong>She was featured in a makeup campaign for Hourglass Cosmetics<\/strong><\/a> with Twyla Tharp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destiny has been named in the top 10 “Up and Coming Ballerinas to Watch<\/em>” by Dance Spirit Magazine<\/strong><\/a>, she has been featured in<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dance Mogul Magazine<\/a> <\/strong>and Dance Informa Magazine<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destiny studied at the Colburn Dance Academy <\/strong>and Pacific Northwest Ballet School<\/strong> where she recently completed an apprenticeship. Her training includes courses at the Ailey School<\/strong>, Debbie Allen Dance Academy<\/strong>, School of American Ballet <\/strong>and Chautauqua Dance Program<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destiny joined Corps de Ballet in August 2023.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While a student at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Destiny performed in Company productions of George Balanchine<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s The Nutcracker\u00ae <\/strong>and Kent Stowell\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> Swan Lake <\/a><\/strong>(Four Swans). <\/strong>She performed leading and featured roles in Bruce Wells\u2019<\/a><\/strong> Beauty and the Beast <\/a>(Belle); Malena Ani\u2019s<\/a> pillow scream and Noah Martzall\u2019s<\/a> The Difference Between for NEXT STEP; and Christopher D\u2019Ariano\u2019s<\/a> Homage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destiny has mastered technicality. She is like a sponge that can observe, study, and execute with precision. Making her talent shine so elegantly, D2neXt salutes this rising star…. She’s neXt!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
