D2next Salutes: Shar Jossell

Shar Jossell confidently asks the fun/tough questions that need answers amidst the deafening noise of those trying to demolish journalism. She fearlessly tackles what’s at the forefront of all our minds regarding the world’s current events.

As we celebrate Black History Month, D2neXt would like to take this opportunity to recognize those individuals who work to make a difference in various fields, including small business owners, local politicians, medical professionals, and entertainment figures. This month, we are saluting everyday history-makers and their efforts to make a positive impact on the communities they support.

Shar Jossell is an award-winning journalist, media personality, and writer. She focuses on arts/entertainment reporting and writes in the intersections of gender, politics, race, and pop culture. Shar has been featured on Buzzfeed, HuffPost, GLAAD, TMZ, Into, FOX Soul, That Grape Juice, and The Wrap–just to name a few. Her bylines include ESSENCE, Variety, them., ZORA, URL-Media, and Bold Culture.

Shar has also served as a chairperson on the board of directors for the National Association of Black Journalists of Los Angeles (NABJLA) from 2020-2022, and she was a keynote moderator for KNX News Los Angeles Mayoral Debate between Mayor Karen Bass and Rick Caruso. Last year, she cohosted the “We See Each Other” mini-series podcast with Tre’vell Anderson, and the “We’re…Just Like That” recap podcast for MAX’s original series “And Just Like That…” with Denver Sean. Most recently, she has become an on-air contributor for NPR’s “Pop Culture Happy Hour.”

Shar Jossell is an essential force for this generations media proving that journalism is crucial, representation is imperative and integrity is everything. From tackling hard-hitting topics like Oprah to entertaining the masses like Wendy Williams, Shar’s limitless range continues to astound. At D2neXt, we proudly recognize Shar for her contributions to media – SHE IS BLACK HISTORY!
